Custom GPTs are retiring
Custom GPTs are scheduled to retire on 11 December 2026 and migrate to plugins. Instructions become a skill; custom actions don't transfer. For each GPT your team still uses: keep, migrate or retire — and name who owns that call.

Work
ChatGPT Work: hand over a defined deliverable.
ChatGPT Work is where Craft's longer, multi-step work runs inside ChatGPT: finished deliverables from your files and apps. You stay in the loop — follow progress, change direction and approve important actions. ChatGPT agent mode is now ChatGPT Work.
Name the assignment
Name the outcome, the sources, the constraints and when to stop for review. OpenAI’s own guidance: tell it when to stop for review or approval — including “stop before sending anything”.
What Work can carry
Research and analyse information, work across connected apps and files, and create finished documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports and Sites. On desktop it can also use local files and desktop apps with your permission.
Augment
AI carries several steps, and I review. What evidence would let me accept the result?

Choose the right harness
If you have used Codex for non-coding work, you can stay in Codex or use ChatGPT Work instead. Work gives the same core capabilities with an experience designed for everyday work.
Adapt

Safety
Is ChatGPT safe for work data?
On Business and Enterprise, OpenAI says business data is not used for model training by default. SAML SSO, SOC 2 Type 2 and admin controls over apps and retention sit with your organisation. Fix what ChatGPT can reach before people lean on it. Personal plans follow consumer data controls.
Permissions and apps
ChatGPT respects your organisation’s existing permissions, and each person authenticates to connected apps. Start read-only where write actions exist. Admin settings stay with your IT.
Protect the timeline
Before AI changes important work, protect the timeline: captures, experiments, proposals, then human review. AI checks; a person decides.
